What's with Hacking - Page 2 - Guild Wars Forums

I'm quite sceptical of all the "I was hacked!" posts. I just don't believe it, mostly, because if there were a real way to hack accounts on the server side, you'd have more of them, and they would target the richest players - not random folk.

Contrasting the constant, one by one stream of "I was hacked! I never did anything wrong!" with the expected result of an actually hacked game, I'd say Occam's razor sure points to people not taking enough care of their computer's security and password quality.

Amazingly, I often ask people who claim they were hacked "Well, since it's now useless and you changed it, what WAS your password?" and no one is willing to tell us what the password used to be.

And always some of the general "innocents" on the board come up claiming "You know nothing! I got hacked!", just like the "I was falsely banned" innocents always come up...

The NCSoft Master Account glitch that allowed accounts to be stolen was apparently random.
